Samsung S26 Series: What's the major upgrades?

Today, we’ve received some exciting rumors about the upcoming Samsung S26 series, and we wanted to share them directly with you. Unlike the previous S25 series, which had four models, S25, S25 Plus, S25 Ultra, and S25 Edge, it looks like the S26 series will only feature three models: the S26, S26 Edge, and S26 Ultra.

The reason behind this change seems to be the poor performance of the S25 Edge in the market. It was priced very close to the S25 Ultra, so most people preferred the Ultra model instead. Interestingly, the S26 series will bring back the Edge model, but this time, Samsung appears to be dropping the “Plus” variant altogether.

There are strong rumors suggesting this might become a permanent move for future S-series phones. One of the reasons is Apple’s expected removal of the “Plus” model in the upcoming iPhone 17 series, where a new “Air” model is being introduced. It seems both Samsung and Apple are shifting away from the “Plus” naming convention.

Coming back to the S26 series, we’re confident that three models will launch. What’s even more interesting is the rumor that each of these models might be powered by different processors. The S26 and S26 Edge are expected to feature Samsung’s new Exynos 2600 processor,  reportedly more powerful in raw benchmarks than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Elite. However, as many of you know, while Exynos chips often perform well on paper, Snapdragon still leads when it comes to real-world performance and efficiency. The S26 Ultra, on the other hand, is expected to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Elite, a chipset that has already earned praise for its power and performance.

When it comes to design, there are some early prototypes and leaks floating around, but nothing official or confirmed yet. Rest assured, as soon as more solid details are available, We’ll update you right here.

As for the camera setup, it’s likely we’ll see the return of the 200MP main sensor, just like in previous models. What’s still uncertain is whether the phone will have a triple or quad rear camera layout. It’s possible that we’ll see four cameras on the back, but we’ll need to wait for confirmation.

Now, let’s talk about battery and this might be a bit disappointing for some of you. Rumors suggest that the new models will stick with a 5000 mAh battery, a capacity Samsung has used since the S21 Ultra. In a time when some phones are coming with silicon-carbon batteries reaching 6000 to even 7000 mAh, Samsung sticking to 5000 mAh does feel underwhelming. There is a chance, though, that the S26 Ultra might get a 6000 mAh battery, which would be a welcome upgrade.

On the charging front, however, we do have good news. The S26 Ultra is expected to support 67W to 70W fast charging a big improvement from the 45W charging found in the previous models. That’s all the information we have for now. We’ll keep an eye on any updates and share them with you as soon as they come in. Stay tuned!
