Build and Design

Initially, the phone looks solid. The build is great, the weight is minimal, and the thickness is well controlled. The phone has Gorilla Glass 7i on the front, the back is glass as well, and the frame is aluminium. From the build and design perspective, this phone can really attract anyone.

It feels premium in hand and does not feel bulky at all. Oppo has done a good job in maintaining a sleek profile despite packing strong hardware inside.

Display

The phone has a 6.59-inch AMOLED display, providing a 1256 x 2760 pixels screen resolution. It offers a 120Hz screen refresh rate, HDR10+ support, and 1200 nits of peak brightness.

The screen is undoubtedly great, vivid, and bright. The scrolling experience is smooth thanks to the 120Hz refresh rate. The in-hand feel of this phone is also good and it does not feel bulky. So from the screen department, there is nothing that we think you might consider a compromise.

Processor and Performance

Coming to the performance, the Oppo Reno 15 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor. The processor is no doubt a great option in this segment. It handles almost every demanding task easily, with no jitter and no lag.

It scored 1,389,693 points on AnTuTu version 11 and runs PUBG at 90 FPS out of the box. Max graphics settings are UltraHDR with Ultra frame rate. While 90 FPS is not bad, there is still a gap in gaming performance because the device does not support 120 FPS in PUBG, at least for now during our testing. Maybe in the future it will, but currently this is the maximum you will get from this phone in gaming, especially PUBG.

The phone has two storage variants: 256GB with 12GB RAM and 512GB with 12GB RAM, based on UFS 3.1 storage type. The storage type is excellent, and the read and write speeds are super fast on this phone.

Camera

Oppo is known for producing good camera phones, and people expect a good camera from Oppo. The Oppo Reno 15’s camera is not bad. However, it is mostly borrowed from the previous generation with no major change in the rear camera lenses except the front camera lens.

The phone has a triple camera setup on the back, which includes a 50MP wide-angle camera, a 50MP telephoto lens, and an 8MP ultra-wide lens. The camera produces high-quality images, almost flagship level, and captures videos at a maximum 4K resolution.

The selfie camera is also 50MP and can capture good, crisp photos as well as 4K resolution videos. So from the camera department, there are no major upgrades. Oppo just decided to stick with the previous generation camera setup.

The phone has a strong battery. It is packed with a 6500mAh battery, which is 500mAh extra as compared to the previous generation, and it supports 80W fast charging. Despite having a solid battery size, the phone still does not feel bulky. As mentioned earlier, it looks great in hand and does not look like a bulky device.

During our charging test, the battery went from 0 to 74% in just 30 minutes, and it took 51 minutes to charge the phone completely. That is impressive considering the battery capacity.

Charge in 30 mins: 74%
0-100% charge: 51 minutes

Oppo Reno 15 Pros & Cons

Excellent display
Great camera
Fast charging
Great design
Huge battery
No major upgrade over previous gen
No wireless charging
No 120FPS in PUBG
Slightly overpriced
Conclusion:

For the 159,999 PKR price tag, the phone leans slightly towards the expensive side. Although there is nothing major you have to compromise on if you buy this phone, there is still high competition in the market. Other devices are not only a little cheaper but also provide almost similar value and performance. Take the example of Oppo’s own Reno 14. It is around 10,000 PKR cheaper but still manages to replicate almost the same performance.

The phone is not bad at all. It has great design and build quality, a superb camera, a great display, excellent performance, super fast charging, and good battery backup. But if you are looking to buy a phone that gives you pure value for money or a phone that must run PUBG at 120 FPS, then there are a few other options you can consider. Or at least you can consider the Oppo Reno 14, which is also not a bad choice.
